APPROACH
As we transition through life stages, we encounter expected and unexpected challenges that form, shape and question our sense of being. In my work, I look at the subjective significance of a presenting problem through a developmental and relational lens. It is through relationships that our identities are formed and shaped, and it is with these layers in mind that I approach my work as a psychologist.
BACKGROUND AND TRAINING
Dr. Marilina Rufino began her journey in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a License in Psychology, emphasizing psychoanalytic training in the 1990s. In 2001, she transitioned into the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as a home-based early childhood special education teacher in the tristate area, which laid the foundation for her neurodivergent expertise. Dr. Rufino later became a licensed psychologist in both New York and Argentina, specializing in pediatric psychology. Her clinical training and experience have enabled her to support children and families with diverse emotional and developmental needs.
Currently, Dr. Rufino is undergoing the credential recognition process in Spain and offers both clinical and consultative services internationally. She offers clinical services in New York and Argentina and consulting servicesglobally, focusing on families, educational systems, and leadership coaching.
Her work is informed by a deep commitment to understanding individual needs, empowering families, and fostering well-being in diverse, multicultural settings.
